Kalyani Dey has worked in different fields in the social sector for the last nine years. She has held positions in education, health (HIV, TB, Hepatitis B & C, reproductive health), and livelihood development. She worked with Family Health International 360 (FHI 360), Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (SPYM), Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (DMSC), Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre-Loreto, Development Action Society, Gana Unnyan Parshad and Sanket.
She has also worked with vulnerable populations such as child laborers, child domestic workers, street vendors, sex workers, transgender people, and people struggling with intravenous drug addiction, and has advocated for their rights with both governmental and non-governmental stakeholders. Ms. Dey has also contributed to research projects such as the behaviour sentinel survey (BSS) and HIV sentinel survey (HSS) which provide the latest information on the level and trend of the HIV epidemic among the surveillance population, provide evidence on the geographical spread of HIV, identify emerging pockets, provide information for prioritization of program resources and evaluation of program impact.
Ms. Dey holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with honors from Sukumar Sengupta Mahavidyalaya under the Vidyasagar University and a master’s degree in social work from Vidyasagar School of Social Work. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Rural Management from IGNOU.
